The page at right was produced on deadline, by Daniel Esqueda and the staff of Reforma of Mexico City. He said the simple image of paper dolls was burnished around the edges to convey the sense of loss and emptiness felt by parents, teachers and children in the story. Obviously, those profiled in the story could not be photographed.
